Similar to many other counselors in private practice, we do NOT bill commercial insurance directly. We do accept clients claiming on the OON (out of network) coverage. If you do have an insurance policy which includes coverage for out-of-network providers, upon request we will happily supply you with monthly invoices (also known as 'Superbills' that use my EIN & NPI numbers) which you can then submit for potential partial or full reimbursement. We will also gladly help walk you through this process.
We URGE you to please check with your insurance directly to verify your plan's coverage. Many policies (but not all) offer some sort of reimbursement for mental health services.
**Most (but not all) insurance companies send reimbursement for mental health services within 30-60 days of receipt of the superbill, payment receipt, & insurance reimbursement paperwork.
At this time we DO NOT see anyone under the age of eighteen (18). We help adult (18+) individuals "clean up & brush off their side of the street", if you will, within their relationships & learn to better cope with the difficulties that life throws their way.
However, we would be very happy to share some referrals with you for local youth counselors that we know & trust, if you would find that to be helpful. Please feel free to call or email me for a referral.
We DO NOT make exceptions to this rule as this is a standard held within my practice.
Every appointment scheduled has a 24 hour cancellation policy. Reminders are sent out prior to each appointment asking for confirmation of attendance or if the appointment needs to be cancelled or rescheduled.
In your initial patient paperwork packet, you will sign off on the 24 hour cancellation policy -- acknowledging that if you fail to abide by the policy you will incur a fee.
If, for any reason, you are unable to attend a session, PLEASE make sure that you cancel or reschedule at least 24 hours beforehand. Just as your time is valuable, so is ours.
If you cancel less than 24 hours in advance or simply do not show up for your appointment, you will be charged for the full rate of the session. If you are late (more than 15 minutes), we can still proceed with the appointment but, note that you will still be invoiced & charged for the full rate of the entire session. However, please let us know if you are running more than 15 minutes behind our scheduled meeting time.
Typically our counselors like to meet with clients once per week. Seeing each other on a weekly basis allows for the necessary work to move along at a good pace. Although, if a different or adjusted schedule is needed we, of course, will work with you accordingly.
We are here to serve you. At the end of the day, it comes down to what is appropriate for each individual, couple or family.
This is a very important question. You're dedicating your invaluable time & hard earned resources & therefor want to be absolutely certain you are picking the right person to be your counselor. You should consider logistical factors (office location & availability) as well as personal characteristics (our training & expertise, personality, & 'the feel' you get). An initial 10-minute phone conversation should be able answer some of these questions - However, we do suggest that you really think about the questions that will inform your decision.
Lastly, more often than not, you generally have to be in a room with someone before you truly have a feel for the person. The first couple of face-to-face sessions can continue to solidify your decision & we can talk about any ongoing reservations or concerns you might have.
