Eye Movement Desensitization & Reprocessing (EMDR) is a type of therapy that was originally designed to alleviate the distress associated with traumatic memories (Shapiro, 1989a, 1989b). After successful treatment with EMDR therapy, affective distress is relieved, negative beliefs are reformulated, & physiological arousal is reduced.
Accelerated resolution therapy (ART) is a relatively new evidence-based therapy. It may be an effective intervention for trauma, depression, & other mental health concerns. ART uses eye movements aimed to help quickly alleviate symptoms, which are often related to past trauma.
Many individuals can experience symptoms associated with painful & traumatic circumstances. Anxiety, fear, & hopelessness are a few emotions that can linger following traumatic events. You can overcome these symptoms with guidance through the process of grief, treatment & healing.

A codependent relationship is a kind of dysfunctional relationship where one person is a caretaker & the other person takes advantage. Codependent relationships are extremely common in situations involving substance abuse. Typically, one partner will take care of the other to the extent of enabling that partner’s addictive behavior. Codependency is not healthy for either partner. It allows one partner to sink deeper in addiction while forcing the other partner to completely forgo their own wants & needs in order to care for the other. Through counseling, positive redirection can help you focus on releasing your codependent tendencies & work toward a more healthy self.
CBT (Cognitive behavioral therapy) primarily helps clients recognize & change problematic patterns of thinking & behaving. By contrast, DBT (Dialectical behavior therapy) primarily helps clients regulate intense emotions & improve interpersonal relationships through validation, acceptance & behavioral changes.
